Veterans Shine On

Join Omaha Parks Foundation & Omaha Parks and Recreation in celebrating the grand lighting of the Memorial Park WWII Colonnade in honor of our Veterans on Thursday November 5th at 6pm. Drive or walk by. (**Ceremony Canceled**)

As a believer in the purpose of Memorial Park and all the veterans it stands for,

we are writing to you with a special request.

The Mayor's Office made the official decision to cancel the annual Shine On Veterans lighting ceremony due to Covid. At this time, we will still plan to have the fabulous patriotic light display on the Colonnade and by the newly installed military monuments. People will be able to drive and walk through the park check out the lights and pay their respects.

With the uncertainty of 2020 and what the COVID crisis has brought to Omaha, funds were not in place for this popular annual city hosted event. Veterans Shine On is an event in honor of all of those currently serving our country and for all our Veterans. Each year there are speakers, special guests, music, and the grand lighting of the WWII Colonnade at Memorial Park. We would still like to see the WWII Colonnade lit this holiday season for our Vets. Please help us with your monetary support in reaching our goal of $20,000 so that we can show our Omaha Veteran community the support they deserve and light up the WWII Colonnade at Memorial Park like in years past. Let's continue this beautiful tradition for our community in hopes that we gain normalcy back next year.

We understand this is a short notice ask, and we would appreciate any support to make these efforts come to light on November 5th, 2020.

In support of this important event the Omaha Parks Foundation is offering a $10,000

match to show our appreciation for you, the donors and Vets, to maximize your generous gift.
