Q: Why should I donate to the Omaha Parks Foundation, Inc.?
A: Established as a nonprofit organization in 2010, the Omaha Parks Foundation’s mission
is to bring together the resources necessary to enhance the quality of Omaha’s park system. In collaboration with corporations, foundations, neighborhood associations and other volunteer groups, the Foundation helps support parks and recreation facilities owned by the City of Omaha.
The Omaha Parks Foundation operates independently as a private, nonprofit agency qualified as a 501(c) 3 organization under the Internal Revenue Code and registered as a charitable corporation in the State of Nebraska. The Foundation is governed by a Founding Board of Directors and its activities are coordinated by Amber Miller, Foundation Administrator.
Q: How does Omaha Parks Foundation interact with the City Parks Department?
A: Omaha Parks Foundation is completely separate from the city parks department. However, the Omaha Parks Foundation works closely with parks and recreation projects. As a federally-recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Omaha Parks Foundation is responsive to donors and retains great flexibility to pursue unique projects that although valuable to communities and park-goers, are not presently within the City’s priorities and/or budget resources.
Q: How can I donate to a Neighborhood Park Special Project?
A: Omaha Parks Foundation manages funds for many of community special projects. Give a targeted gift to support a park in your neighborhood! Email amiller@omahaparksfoundation.org to receive a copy of our Project-Specific Fund Policy.
Q: Can I give a gift "in honor" or "in memory" of someone?
A: Yes. You can designate your gift to be "in honor" or "in memory" of someone. Be sure to provide the individual's or
their family's contact information so they can be notified, if you choose, of your gift.
Q: Is my gift tax deductible?
A: Yes. All contributions will flow through the Omaha Parks Foundation, Inc. a 50(c) (3) organization set up specifically to mobilize public support and financial resources for public parks, trails, and recreational opportunities. All donations are tax deductible in full accordance with the law.
Q: Can I make an undesignated gift to the Omaha Parks Foundation through this campaign?
A: Absolutely. Anyone can make an undesignated gift to a campaign. An undesignated gift will go to the current greatest need. If you are interested in making such a gift, you may do so through this website or by contacting amiller@omahaparksfoundation.org
